About me & how I work

Hello, my name is Dawn and I trained as an Integrative Counsellor which means I work from several different theories, enabling me to adapt the work to suit your individual needs. In addition, there maybe scope to include mindfulness, creative working and where relevant, guided meditation, if these feel beneficial to the work.

I work with a variety of concerns, ranging from anxiety and depression through to low self-esteem, bereavement and sexual abuse. I also have a particular interest in working with trauma and trauma-related issues ie. PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder).

I feel that my own varied life experiences help me to understand many of the difficulties that life can present us with and I feel passionate about my work: helping others to help themselves, investing in themselves and their own futures.

I offer counselling to adults (18+) on either a short or long term basis, dependent on the client's needs. Short term counselling often focuses on a particular issue, ie. loss/bereavement, whereas longer term counselling allows for deeper exploration and understanding of how life's experiences have (and are) impacting on you.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (no. 00917584) and therefore I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
